From Sophia:
Sometimes poems outlive their usefulness, and that’s always a beautiful day. When I wrote this poem, I couldn’t legally get married. I write this description having stood outside the Supreme Court on the day same sex marriage was legalised in the US, and having been part of the movement to legalise it in the UK. This poem stands as a testament to how things were. We have come far, which is good news. But we have a long journey ahead.
